I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of Vi, Vim, and Neovim lately, which has brought back so many college memories.
I pulled out my 1999 edition of the Vi Editor Pocket Reference that I’ve been carrying around with me since 2002. It was informative, but terse. There are so many advanced YouTube usage tutorials now! It’s great to see how fast editing can be as an example, but hard to LEARN from someone editing fast. Written material still excels there for learning at your own pace.
Anyway, I ran through vimtutor, no big problems, learned a few cool things along the way!
Then this morning I was like
I bet I can turn on Vim motions for Obsidian, there are some real nerds using this thing.
An added benefit is that’s where I do most of my writing anyway.
I was met with the funniest (to me) pop up I’ve ever seen software provide.

I passed the test, but laughed because I just stumbled into meme territory.
The thought of some poor soul turning on “Vim mode” without first memorizing all the secret keys, or one of the at-least-three ways to exit, is pretty funny.
