CCIE Attempt #2

I looked back and read my first post on my first CCIE attempt.

All of those things apply again.

I was more nervous than I should have been and made stupid mistakes because of it

int ser 1/0:23
shut

left unchecked for several hours.. then me doing my testing wondering.. wtf why isn’t that working?

or answering some easy question, then not fully understanding the ramifications.. and making it now impossible to dial all of the phones at one site.

My configuration was done quickly enough.. I had to keep looking at the test though because it was pretty different than what I was used to setting up. My fatal flaw is not being able to just read the test, internalize, then spit it all out into one glorious and shining config

All in all there were 2 things I was unsure about, that might pass or might not.

There were 3 things I will certainly not get points for.

Now it’s up to time to see if I pass or fail. I’m certain of failure.

If I pass I’ll be ridiculously over joyed… but for now I’m looking to see when the next free date is I can schedule.

If passing happens I’ll get drunk, buy a new comp, maybe play some WoW.

If failing happens I’ll get even more drunk, schedule a new lab, and start studying again.

This test may well wind up destroying any shred of mental sanity I have left after dealing with customers.

I’ll be sure to post as soon as I get my score report.

Background – Ninja Tip

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I were attacked by Ninjas.

What great strategy would I used to ward off said Ninjas?

Luckily someone made an instructional poster for just such an occasion.

Pro Tip – Ninjas can’t catch you if you’re on fire.

Kama Sutra… awesome… wait.. no..

Today I got the best invitation on Facebook ever. Someone wanted to invite me to their Kama Sutra thingamajig.

I was like “hot damn I’m getting lucky on the intertubes”

So I click.. and who do I see inviting me? Brendan Fucking Quinn.

Bastard. Way to get my hopes up asshole.

1 – Click Ordering, The Evolution

I was pleasantly surprised the other day at Amazon.com by 1 – Click ordering. I was buying some MP3s (I know.. I could have just downloaded them for free.. but I feel better about myself and I’m not hurting for cash) and I just clicked buy. All of the sudden, the transaction was over and my music was downloading.

Where do I spend 5 minutes typing in my credit card information? I wondered.

Apparently I had it save my CC info some time ago and hadn’t remembered I did that. It’s pretty damn awesome.

I had a dream last night where I had a curiously strong desire for rope. I was in a situation that would be better, nay, DEMANDED, rope or some binding material.

Moments later a delivery guy showed up at my door with a box full of rope and other supplies required for that particular point in my dream.

So Amazon.. I request you implement this feature. I call it:

1 – Thought Ordering

Here’s how it works. You project what my needs will be tomorrow based on some funky warping of spacetime (Ask Stephen Hawking for details). You ship it overnight and charge me for it. I’ll accept the charges if your predictions are accurate and my need sufficient. (I fucking NEEDED that rope)

Does anyone have a friend that works at Amazon? Could we bring this to their attention?

Background – Hot

I’m on fire here. 3 posts in one night. I was looking for more background images and found what I’ll be using for the next few weeks.

Without further ado:

Damn that’s hot

Background – Carting

As promised I’m updating you guys with my background changes. I was a bit late on this one. I’ve been rocking this background for a few weeks now.

It brings me great joy.

Christmas and New Years

It’s taken me a while to get around to posting, but the holidays around here were a pretty good time. There was some celebrating, and a lot of relaxing.

Mostly relaxing.

But I do have pictures of the celebrating part. Let me give you some of the high lights.

Wes had a party over at his place to celebrate christmas. The Cisco folks were that and we tried to have a little bit of christmas spirit. I think Peng did it best:

Peng Mok - Santa

We had a secret santa at Matt’s house. Interesting that he was into christmas given the whole jewish thing and what not. We played monopoly.. well I watched people play monopoly.

New Years was an awesome time. We had pretty much no clue what we were going to do before hand, but I came up with the idea of ice skating. It turned out to be awesome.

It had been a while since everyone was together:

A rare picture of me:

An interesting pose:

We went out to Napper Tandy’s later and ran into Ray and Ashlynn. That was pretty awesome:

and everyone rejoiced… maybe a little too much for some:

And then everyone went back to work.

Up next.. CCIE attempt #2 then vacation.
